Hello Everyone
I have been following the diet for about 28 months now. At first I did not experience any recovery, however, since going strict and eating only lean protein and non starchy vegetables about 8 months ago, I have experienced a very dramatic improvement. My problem - my diet is so limited I cannot rotate as much as I would like. I eat a food once in four days. My vegetables are mostly of the cabbage family so although they are getting rotated, I am still repeating the family. Eg brussel sprouts day 1, cabbage day 2, spring greens day 3 etc. To my horror I am starting to react to these cruciferous vegetables, my symptoms are returning and I am terrified. I have tried to introduce "old" triggers but I am still reacting to them, eg egggplant, zucchini, broccoli, brown rice etc. If I eliminate the cruciferous family and starchy vegetables I am literally left with parsley, salad leaves and pak choi and my rotation problem is compounded.
I would love to hear from anyone who has brought themselves back from a situation where they just had to eat trigger foods to survive. How did you do it? Did you take supplements? Did you follow a detox protocol? Did you just choose to eat the things to which you reacted least?
I would be very grateful for any help anyone can give me as I am currently in a state of panic which is definitely not helping my symptoms!
Oh my, that is horrifying to
Oh my, that is horrifying to hear about your food reactions!!! Why don't you try eating salad and lean meat/fish only for a few days? Then see if your reactions are still there.
Detox would be a good idea but if your digestive system if out of whack then it might be too much for it to handle. But u can try some mild teas with ginger, cardamon, fennel, they all clean and detox our systems.
Also about supplements, are u taking multivitamins? vitamin D? omega3? Those are all important in healing.
I'm also taking chlorophyll supplements with every meal and they are great. My stomach has totally settled down, I feel great and digestive system is working like a well oiled machine if u know what I mean.
I only avoid wheat coz of allergy but have no restrictions with other foods (coffee not allowed though) once I figured out to keep fat content real low. I started reacting to chicken coz I had cooked it in a way with too much fat!! Now it's only nonfat food and no reactions so far. Even if i have a slice of gluten free cake I have no reaction. I guess I healed my gut.
But remember about supplements, depending on the damage I don't think u can heal it all only with food, considering that food lost its nutritional value that it had years ago. So get some supplements to heal your gut, google alternative medicine for digestive repair and choose what you feel is best.
