My mom has been on the diet for about 3 weeks and seems to be getting progressively worse. From reading the FAQ section, I understand that this is to be expected, but was wondering how long this is expected to last. I fear that if she continues to deteriorate, she will throw the diet idea out the window, and I know in my heart that this will work if she sticks with it.

Hi all, I have been having
Hi all,
I have been having some really hard times lately. I have been on a BBD and MS recovery diet combo for a while now with good results. No gluten, dairy, coffee or sugar, no grains, fruits and vegetables I am intolerant to (bio-resonnance food allergy test). I am very strict with myself and never cheat.
One and a half month ago I used a walnut tincture as part of an anti-parasite protocol. I had not been found intolerant to walnuts in the last test. I found myself not being able to walk and it took me about one week to make out what was bothering me. I stopped imediately and as soon as I regained my strength here comes a homeopathetic formula (Schussler salts). By mistake of the pharmacist the excipient was a lactose-sucrose mixture. I took it for five days and it was a new disaster. Fortunately I was able to guess what was wrong due to the sweet taste. Today I am off it and feel a little better.
I have a feeling of injustice, because none of these two incidences was my own fault. Has anybody else experienced similar phenomena with supplements? Is such a tiny amount of the bad stuff able to have such an influence on our health? It usually takes me a couple of days on the bad stuff before feeling awful. How long does it usually take for a substance to go out of our system so as to regain our forces?
I feel that my good job is ruined. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Susie, I want to take some time to respond to your question, so I'll have to log on again later when I have more time. Just wanted to respond quickly and let you know that I saw your post. --Justme
Hi there. For me, most of
Hi there. For me, most of the food reactions are pretty quick. . .say within an hour or several hours. You'll start to notice trends. Like one that I found was that every day that I ate Corn Flakes for breakfast, I had a bad morning/early afternoon and sometimes and entire bad day. It took me a lot of bowls of corn flakes, but I finally figured it out. No corn flakes, and no immediate bad reaction/day. I've cut out all corn, as a result. However, all reactions are not so easy to identify. I also found that something that I had eaten the day before--while having a "good" day all along-- could give me a really BAD day the following day. So those reactions seem to hit over a 24 hour period. AND they seem to be the ones that last longer. For example, one day I was having an up day so I ate something for lunch that I hadn't had forever--a taco lunch (NOT on the MS recovery diet). I thought I was feeling great that day, so why not?!? HUGE mistake. I felt fine for the rest of that day but the next day and several days to follow were horendous. . .could barely move my legs OR arms at all. Sharp electrical pains through my back. Crying for no reason and couldn't stop. And so on. I had to cleanse myself of the mistake meal, stay on track, and finally pulled out of it probably about 5 days later. Thinking through it though, that taco meal had corn, probably some dairy, soy in the oil or probably in the shells as well, and on and on. Huge mistake. I WON'T make that mistake again. I thought I had really done myself in. I hope this info helps. The food journal is a great idea and should really help to identify trigger foods that are specific to your Mom. The fact that you're seeing ups and downs within hours is a very good sign, in my mind. It means that your effecting some type of change. . which means that if you can get a hold on it and figure it out, she could really start to notice some good things. Keep journaling and keep experimenting. . . justme
The up and down days seems
The up and down days seems to be the trend right now. We'll even have up and down hours! One second she can't move, another, her mobility has improved drastically, all within one day. I'm starting to keep a food journal, as I'm sure it's related to something she's eating, but it's hard to gauge when a food reaction occurs. Is it within an hour or within 24? Does it depend on the food? Any info would be greatly appreciated
Justme-Can you share your
Justme-Can you share your story (diagnosis, progression, recovery so far)? I've been on the diet 5 months now and my recovery seems stagnant. Or that could just be my supreme lack of patience... Susie
Hi there! I just wanted to
Hi there! I just wanted to say: Keep going! Don't give up! to your Mom. I've been on the diet since October/November of 2008 and I have noticed big changes. I have also noticed that there are definitely up days and down days. Try not to give in to the down days. It's easy to say, wow, this isn't working or this is hard, but keep going. . .because before you know it a good or GREAT day shows up and you can't believe it! It sounds like your Mom had a good day and that is wonderful. A word of caution. . .take it easy on the good day!!! It's very easy to be so excited about new found energy or feeling and then try to do too much or "cheat" a little on a tidbit of "fun food" here or there. NOT a good thing to do! (speaking from experience!!) The more you take it easy, stick to the program, and just experience the good day slowly, the more good days her body will find to come next! Here's to more to come! : ) just me
Glad to hear the good news

I have some good progress to
I have some good progress to report! We seemed to hit rock bottom last night, with complete weakness and lack of feeling in my mom's legs. When I touched her calves and legs, they were burning, which was amazing to me, as they're usually ice cold, even on a 90 degree day. We put her to bed early and this morning she is like a new woman. She can raise her knees higher than I've seen in years and her foot drop has significantly decreased. Honestly, I was ready to throw in the towel last night, but today is a good day!. Hopefully we'll continue on an upward trend!

Hi Dannielle
I have no answer to that but I do have an excellent web site that shows where to get all the nutriants you need to make sure she isn't lacking the proper vitamins and minerals. All from natural foods that we should eat every day. My concern was that I don't want to loose my health in other ways ( ie. strong bones) while trying to stick to this diet. I have been on it for several months and it has helped me in a way that my digestion is better but not my mobility yet. But I am sleeping much better and that has to be good. Take it slow,,,, she doesn't have to give up everything all at once, that could be stressful.
good luck
