hi , i have not been rotating my breakfast foods and was experiencing trouble again , i have now gone back yp rotation of all food and that really seems to help , i think because i have ppms that my system seems to take longer yto react and recover as well , so keep up[ with food rotation ,

Hi there Ken and Sarah,
You know, it's funny, but the more I eliminate, the more I seem to need to eliminate more! If that makes any sense. My one evil each day up to this point, for example, has been my daily morning Diet Coke--with Splenda. This has not bothered me at all until recently. In the last couple of weeks, I've noticed that it makes me feel sick to my stomach when I'm drinking it. I thought about it this morning as I was trying to choke it down (it IS my last evil, after all!!!) and thought that maybe it's because my body is clearing out some of those bad things and so we become better able to notice immediate effects of what we eat/drink. So, rather than try to choke it down tomorrow. . .I'll probably just let it go. Sigh. . . BUT I'll look at it as a positive! Maybe our bodies begin to clear out the junk and then can "tell" us what's next?? It really does take a lot of paying attention to. Ken, the juicing is a great idea, and I haven't tried it at all. I will, for sure. Thank you for the suggestion. It could really help at lunchtime, which I find to be my most difficult meal to plan anything interesting. The grains that you mentioned are not the typical whiter grains. Have you found that they help you? I will try more of them. I have tried some, but will definitely try to rotate some of them into my diet in place of some that I'm eating today. I do flax oil on my salads everyday and take a Borage Oil supplement for the Omega 6 GLA form. Sarah, I think you and I have found similarities in our writings before! It's good to know we have colleagues out there! I totally understand the bit of discouragement. I've had some newer symptoms--particularly in my legs--come up in the last several weeks, which has made me realize that I really need to do more to try to stop the disease process. BUT I totally believe in this approach. I often think to myself that our maker doesn't give MS to those who can't handle it. To handle this one, we have to really keep looking out over the discouragement and keep on forward. Just know that when you look at your plate of veggies, I'm looking at mine too! Maybe if we both laugh at it a bit, and know that we're all laughing at them together, it will add a "spoonful of sugar" to those greens (reference to Mary Poppins, if you didn't catch it)! hahaha. Just wanted to say i know exactly how you feel. I too seem to have hit a plateau, and am feeling very discouraged. I still have full faith in the diet and know it works, but when you realise how many foods suddenly become no no`s it becomes extremely difficult to stay focused. Even with food rotation i find it hard, there are only so many vegetables you can eat without getting sick of the sight of them!!!
It took me a good 6 months to realise what i can and can`t eat, but since then it has become harder, as i find it seems to be most grains, so i struggle to feel full and consequently have lost over a stone in weight. I too then find i give in to weakness and eat something i should`nt and feel worse for it!!
You are right about this site, it is so encouraging and i still totally believe i will heal!!!!

hi , rotation of foods is a vital part of this program , calorie rich food , i think nutrient rich food is most important , quinoa , millett ,wild rice , brown rice are all good breakfast foods , can you get some hemp milk ? start juicing , carrot and celery are nice and extremley nutrious , try a live aloe leaf in the juicer , great for the stomach .
dont forget the flax oil .

I read your comment on food rotation when you first posted it, and it has stuck in my mind since. I seem to be at a plateau in my recovery. Some numbness has gone away, my latest MRI showed a large lesion had healed, blurred vision is better but still quick to attack if I cheat, and the fatigue that seemed to be getting better is now lingering quite strongly and so on. So, I've seen some improvements, but my current status is not good enough for me, in terms of my comfort level or quality of life. SO I gave some serious thought to your reminder to rotate foods. My breakfast foods are usually the same, as well, so I'll look for ways to vary. I also find that I am quite sensitive to a number of foods. In addition to the five in the book, I've also had to eliminate soy, pork--lean or not (my latest discovery), oats, corn, and maybe another or two that my very tired mind can't think of. Because of my plateau in healing, I'm going to really focus on rotation (for example, I probably eat too many sunflower seed products--butters and the raw nuts), breakfast should definitely be varied (I've found that I can make a batch of buckwheat pancakes--no eggs, and use rice milk and no sugar and keep them in the fridge to quickly nuke another day). ALSO, I'm considering cutting out all starches for a while to see what happens. I do tend to eat a lot of white potatoes and rice. I'm wondering if going on a more strict diet might help to jumpstart some more healing. It's a tough road to pinpoint the offenders, particularly if you have a lot of sensitivities, but we'll get there! I do sometimes lose a little hope, but I try to ignore my own weakness and forge ahead. By the way, I've been on the diet for about 7 months now. The differences in improvement are definitely there, but clearly I haven't uncovered all that I need to uncover. I believe I have a very sensitive system right now and I need to cut out even more to give my body the chance to calm and self heal. I've recently made the decision to NOT go on the recommended MS meds/shots. If I am going to make that decision, then I need to really forge ahead on the path to healing that I've chosen. This is my latest mindset, and food rotation and an even stricter version of the diet is something that I'll work on next. It's good to continue to see the postings of others who are working so hard at this too! justme

Can you give us some ideas on calorie rich foods that are on the strict version of the diet. It seems like everything that is calorie rich has sugars or is just a plain no-no. Also, what foods are you rotating? More than just grains? Thanks for any ideas.
