Total noob questions

After reading the book and trying to follow it for 3 weeks now, I've got a load of questions. I thought I'd post them all at once instead of 10-15 different threads. (As an aside, I'm a software developer so I always notice issues with websites, it would really be great if the forum had a search function. I tried to look up my questions in your forum, but it would have taken hours or even days).

I had my first MS symptoms 20 years ago. 9 years ago I woke up one morning with a migraine headache which I have to this day (yes, all day every day). I thought I was doing all the right things (spending $30,000 on at least 20 doctors). CAT scans, MRIs, Nuerologists, Chiropractic, high salt, no salt, acupuncture, studying anything I could. I was finally diagnosed a month ago after I lost all the feeling below the belly button. I found the diet book and immediately started the diet.

Questions:
I quit smoking 3 weeks ago and I'm chewing nicorette gum. Without the gum, I don't know if I could stay quit, but I have a strong feeling the gum is affecting the MS, anyone else have experience with this? Any MS side effects with using the patch? Maybe its worth it to just keep chewing the gum anyway until I can stop because that's better than smoking?

With the 15 Grams of Saturated Fat a day limit how do I count the oil? What I mean is, I bought Olive, Safflower, Grape Seed, Flax Seed and Sunflower oils. They're labeled as being 2.5 grams of saturated fat per tablespoon. If I need to take 10 Tablespoons a day, that leaves no room for any other Sat Fats (not even a 6 oz patty of Ostrich). Am I reading the numbers wrong?

Green beans, Snow peas. I want to make sure these are off the list. I know they're legumes, but they're in some of the recipes.

White Rice. Is white rice OK? All the references to rice seem to be for brown rice.

Soy Sauce. Since the Soy beans are fermented and totally broken down, do they produce the same reactions as eating Tofu or soy beans? It's like people who are allergic to wheat, but can drink spirits that were derived from wheat with no problems.

Sushi. At Sushi bars, they use white rice cooked in sweet vinegar. I know some places save money by using sugar in the rice, so I will avoid those, but what about vinegars? Are all vinegars OK (Balsamic, Rice, etc...)?

Can I eat Honey? I don't see anything about this in the book.

Super sweet fruits like Dates and Dried figs. I assume these are probably not OK to eat, but I'd like some feedback.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Paul

i noticed an increase in

i noticed an increase in spasms with any sugar ,ike fruit or honey , i would get spsms that lasted for hours , when i didnt use the sugar , no spasm , so it is really hit or miss for the 1st while , this is not going to be cured in a couple of weeks on the diet , you have to make a srious commitment to this as its a way of life for me now , i would say to compare your physical symptoms now to a year from now (stem cel therapy is not showing a measureable change for at least 8 months) , have faith it sure wont hurt you to try .

I believe it's up to 10

I believe it's up to 10 teaspoons of unsaturated fat and oils-not tablespoons. I'd avoid soy at any cost. Learn to read your body's reactions.
Good luck,
Teena Marie
