Soy Lecithin

I was drinking a cup of tea and noticed that soy lecithin is in the ingredients. So I googled "soy lecithin soy allergies" and found this:

Most soy allergies are only to the soy protein. Therefore avoiding foods that contain the soy protein is enough to prevent allergic reactions. Soy lecithin and soy oil are not part of the soy protein and therefore do not usually cause reactions in children. However, there are some very allergic patients that will have reactions to the other soy products and if your child is very sensitive to soy, he may need to avoid these as well.

Hi there! I just wanted to respond to your Soy Lecithin posting. I have had a terrible time with soy--in all of it's forms. . .soybean oil, soy lecithin, soy flour, etc. I don't know the "why," but it doesn't' seem to matter if it's a typically allergic form of soy, it still causes me problems/symptoms. I'm the one who posted the "Help it's a soy invasion" posting. It's been very tough to avoid soy, BUT I find that if I do, I really do notice a difference. Even more so, I find that if I accidentally ingest soy--in whatever form--I have a reactive symptom, i.e., tingling, numbness, etc. I tried to take Soy Lecithin pills for a few days very early on in this diet to get the benefits of the Lecithin, but WOW did it cause me problems! So, I stopped immediately. Others on this site said that it also bothers them. I find that soy oil in products impacts me as well. Anyway, this is what I've found in my workings on this diet. So, at this point, I'm making a HUGE effort to avoid all soy forms in my foods to see if it really makes a difference, as I'm hoping/suspecting that it will. I hope this helps!
