Weight Loss

Hello,

I have been on the recovery diet since October 22, 2008, so I am very new to this. Although I am eating until I am full, I have already lost almost 10 pounds. Normally, I wouldn't complain about losing weight, but I am only 102 pounds and I am afraid to lose any more. Any suggestions?

I appreciate white and red

I appreciate white and red cabbage in my juices, they taste great. In case I juice a vegetable I don' t particularly like (such as cauliflower or celery), I combine it with carrots or beets in order to achieve a better taste. I try to have two glasses of vegetable juice per day and it is a time-consuming process. At dr Mercola's site I found a very good way to overcome this problem (www.mercola.com/nutritionplan/juicing.htm): I juice first thing in the morning, drink my morning portion and put the rest in a dark glass jar (light damages the juice) with airtight lid, filling it to the top (oxygen damages the juice). I store it in the fridge and drink it in the afternoon.
I hope you find this useful.

Most of us on the recovery

Most of us on the recovery diet are not trying to lose weight!!! In fact the majority of us are finding it hard to put it on. I apologise if i sound flippant, but the word diet in this respect refers to a change in eating habits to obtain a recovery. Weight loss is not the main intent.

Hi Carol G, I must not have

Hi Carol G,

I must not have thought that they tasted too much like coconut oil, because I did not realize that's what he had made them with. I had wanted to come back on anyhow and give you a caveat with the coconut oil though. I realized after eating both pie and biscuits on the same day, that I was experiencing more tingling. I traced it back to the coconut oil... it has a high amount of saturated fat in it per serving. So, just be careful with it if you are highly sensitive to saturated fat (I am).

All the best!

Hi JustSmile,

Thank you for the suggestions....does coconut oil make the pie crust and the biscuits taste like coconut?

Ken, Thank you for your

Ken,

Thank you for your suggestions...I went out and bought a juicer with some money I got for Christmas. I love it!! My husband takes me to the farmer's market and we load up on fruits and veggies and make some really interesting concoctions - pineapple/mango/banana smoothies are my favorite so far. Do you have a favorite juicing recipe?

Carol

Ippokabos, Thank you for

Ippokabos,

Thank you for your suggestions regarding weight loss. I will try adding healthy oil to my juices as well.

I have been on the BBD for 2

I have been on the BBD for 2 years and on the recovery diet for some weeks now. I have always been a slim woman (110-112 , 5'8''), but after the BBD I lost some weight I didn't need to lose. My weight dropped to 102. When I started the recovery diet and cut off my diet all the foods I am intolerant to, I discussed the matter of weight with my dietologist and she suggested that I should have vegetable juices every day, putting in some tablespoons of healthy oils. Additionally, since I am permitted most nuts and I love them, she suggested 1-2 different kinds of nuts every day, together with honey every other day. These last weeks on the recovery det I haven't lost any more weight.
Hope this helps.

hi , all the best for the

hi , all the best for the holidays , have you started using flax oil ? please get some and start using it at least 3 tbsps a day , just like the book says , also if you can get your hands on a juicer please do so it will help replace vitamins and phytonutrients that your body is craving at this time and its very easy to digest , there is lots of good diet info on the web as well , but start using that juicer ....
all the best

Okay, I'm back again. I'm

Okay, I'm back again. I'm sorry I keep remembering different things... nuts. Try eating nuts & seeds for snacks and more.

I just remembered another

I just remembered another source... coconut oil. My husband made me the cherry pie made with coconut oil & spelt flour for the crust. And then this weekend he made biscuits with the coconut oil (adapted his own recipe). So, that was something else I just thought of. :)

Hi Carol G, Welcome to the

Hi Carol G,

Welcome to the diet. I've been on it myself for about 3 1/2 months. I've also lost a lot of weight... but it was also pregnancy weight. :) I'm now down below my pre-pregnancy weight (123), so this is also something I've been looking at. I am not an expert, but a few thoughts are... to increase your healthy oils. Dr. Swank also advocates this. The healthy oils help to re-build/repair the myelin sheath. I use olive oil on my grits, grapeseed oil on baked potatoes, rice or baked sweet potato, grapeseed or sunflower oil to make sweet potato fries, etc. You can also eat avocado. They're tasty and are full of the good fats we need. Try chunking up 1/2 of an avocado on a salad or eating 1/2 for a snack. These are just a couple of thoughts. Maybe someone else will be able to add some more ideas. I know we have to be careful of our saturated fat (I am definitely sensitive to this), but we can still consume healthy fat, which should help.

Good luck!
