Judi, Thank you for your reply. I am presently seeing a kenesiologist and a trainer. I will pass your suggestions on to them. I am also following Dr. Neiper's protocal from Germany. I am injecting Calcium EAP three times a week. Have you heard of his protocal? he has also helped people get better from this terrible disease.
thanks,
rita
Hi Rita, back pain with or without MS can be caused by so many issues. It can be due to weakness in your trunk muscles, disc compression or deterioration, scoliosis, misalignment of your pelvis, hip joint problems, leg weakness and length differential, and on and on. Is MS the only causative factor? It is hard to unravel. In my own back pain issues, MS weakness has certainly exacerbated the problems in my lumbar region but I do not believe is the root cause. You might consider getting a full evaluation by a rehabilitation physical therapist- if your doctor writes you a script, your insurance will cover a series of visits.
A PT who is skilled in rehab can take apart the complexities of back pain issues for you and give you an exercise program designed to strengthen the correct muscle usage to live a more pain free life and teach you what is compromised in your walking now and how to get where you want to go as you begin to recover. Where there is neuralgic pain, that may indeed be MS. The diet will help that. Where there is weakness that has you using your body in ways that put pressure on your back due to MS, then the diet will definitely help you. Walking is directly affected by our backs, and this will also improve as your MS recedes. If you have MS, the diet will help return your body to a healthy state that will allow you to deal with back issues and walking- millions of people have back pain and don't have MS. Once you are healthy again, you will better know what is going on and can learn how to live a pain free life and how to walk with greater ease and fluidity..
