New on Diet and Response

I just started the diet the first of this month, July 6th, to be exact. I have cut out all glutens, dairy, eggs, legums, and yeast. (At least I think I've gotten everything.) I did discover that the fish oil I was taking had soy and discontinued the use of that on Saturday the 19th. I had taken these for approximately a week and a half before noticing. As of Sunday the 20th I have not taken these and have switched to a soy free fish oil product. My concern is my symptoms seem to have gotten worse in the past week, since Thursday the 17th. I was curious if this is the norm or not.

Thanks for any advice,
Danielle

Response: We are so glad that you have begun the diet. In Frequently asked Questions, #10, we have addressed this- that some people seem to get worse before they notice getting better. We do not understand why this should be so. Perhaps, and this is only a theory, it is due to the fact that our systems are very sensitive and the whole body is organized around the illness. When the internal chemistry is shifted through changing what we eat, at first our auto immune responses are on high alert due to this change. After a time, the benefits from the diet as described in detail in our book begin to take place and the recovery process can begin. It simply takes time for the body to adjust. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing. We all need to learn from other's experiences so we can understand more and more about the diet treatment approach.

Danielle, I am in month 3

Danielle,
I am in month 3 and i still vacillate wildly. The beginning was the worst for me. Hang in there girl, the pros are now outweighing the cons. I too know this is the answer right down to the core of my being.
Stay strong!

Danielle: I've had some

Danielle:

I've had some similar ups and downs since starting the diet in March. I quickly got better and then have had bouts of "relapses" which seem to be random, although sometimes I think linked to suspect foods I've eaten (that had a soy or other no no ingredient). Hang in there and stay the course. You will continue to feel better. I believe that in my core. Stay well.
