are potato chips (especially kettle cooked) okay to eat
response:
Anything deep fired will have some amount of saturated fats and they are to be avoided. Even the 'good oils' have some amount of saturated fat in them so you need to keep any extra fat down to a minimum. Potato chips are tasty (fats in food carry flavor) but do not contribute to a sound nutritional diet. Sorry! If you must satisfy a craving for them consider thinly slicing white or sweet potatoes yourself. Lightly brush a baking sheet with allowable oils (olive, sunflower seed, etc) and bake at 350 degrees. Flip slices over once the top side is browned. and continue until crispy enough for you Sweet potatoes have more sugar content and so burn more easily. Keep an eye on them so they do not burn. This is a yummy once in while treat!
